Sensitive skin is skin that easily reacts to environmental changes, pollution and cosmetics. This type of skin is most often dry skin too.
Sensitive skin problems include developing rashes, redness, eczema or itching. Any slight change in weather, cloth texture or cosmetics causes severe or moderate reactions in this skin type. Medicines, pollution, dirt, hormonal changes, cosmetic and non-cosmetic allergies or stress are a few causes of sensitive skin. Sensitive skin care is easy when you follow these tips.
Sensitive Skin Care Tips - 1.Make a note of what are the products or conditions that are aggravating the reactions in your skin. Avoid any skin contact with such products or irritants.
2.When choosing cosmetics look for ones that are fragrance free, hypoallergenic (product tested for allergies) and non-cosmogenic (product that does not clog in the pores). Do a patch test before you begin using the product.
3.Dry skin too is a cause for sensitive skin problems. Use a water-based, fragrance-free moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated at all times.
4.Follow a daily beauty routine for overall sensitive skin care. Use mild cleansers, good ones are available under Cetaphil and Neutrogen brands. Follow it with exfoliating with a product that includes salicylic acid and not alpha hydroxyl. During the day, apply a good moisturiser that includes sunscreen. A good sunscreen should include titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and avobenzone. Use a richer moisturiser during the night, as the skin is hydrated better during the evenings.
5.Do not apply any make-up or cream if you have even a slight rash or broken skin. Avoid toners that have alcohol as an ingredient.
6.Regular application of coconut, olive or sesame oil, reduces irritation on skin. Use fresh fruit face packs instead of cosmetic ones. Green tea is a good anti-oxidant, include it in your daily diet.
The above mentioned sensitive skin care tips do help to reduce skin problems. However, do drink lots of fluids. Snack on fresh fruits and vegetables. Remember,a nourishing diet is always a natural way to take care of your skin, making it less prone to skin problems.
