Paris Fashion Week 2011/2012

Paris fashion week brings each season's hectic schedule of fashion shows to a close, capping off a whirl-wind tour of international fashion weeks that starts in New York, moves through London and Milan, and ends in Paris.

 Karl Lager's Collection
German designer Karl Lagerfeld appears at the end of his Fall-Winter 2011/2012 women's ready-to-wear fashion collection show for French fashion house Chanel during Paris Fashion Week, 2011.

The Dior Collection
This collection was presented at Musee Rodin during Paris Fashion week — sans John Galliano — however, the designer’s fashion-forward dramatic designs were ever present. Models worked the runway in a stylish collage of contrasting luxurious looks ranging from oversized fur embellished silhouettes coupled with high-rise stiletto boots to sophisticated and feminine silky shorts and dresses.

Amaya Arzuaga's Collection
Wearable geometry of urban designs is the main signature of famous Spanish designer Amaya Arzuaga. Her latest collection for the fall 2011 season presented in Paris fashion week; the designer's hallmark architectural fascinations presenting the new definition of chic looks with sculptural femininity. The palette of the collection is saturated with bloody red, turquoise, orange, stone and grey colors accompanied with black or showcased solo.

Louis Vuitton men's Collection

For spring 2012 Louis Vuitton promised something new, not the least because designer Kim Jones would taking the reigns as the house's menswear Style Director. Young and well travelled, Jones has a good background having previously been the Creative Director for Alfred Dunhill.

Elie Saab's Collection

Elie Saab's Paris fashion week showing started out with black - and lots of it, and mostly with sophisticated tailoring. It almost seemed as if Saab's usual array of show-stopping frocks was not to make an appearance. But then, all at once, there they were: flowing, form-fitting, with many a thigh high slit. The red carpet options in Saab's fall 2011 collection are plentiful, and even the tailored pieces with sharp pants or knee-length skirts and peplumed hips seemed better suited to an evening occasion. The stand outs, though, were probably the fiery red numbers, and some black all-over sequinned frocks that dazzled like a starry night sky.

Valentin Yudashkin's Collection
Russian designer Valentin Yudashkin's play with a masculine edge set against the feminine elements of frill necks and lace panelling that really set the tone for his Paris fashion week showing.
